They are wondering: “Where did these doctrines come from?” “Do they belong in an SBC church?” “What if I don’t believe them?” and “Are they biblical?” We will try to address these questions in the next few paragraphs.įirst, “Where did these doctrines come from?” The doctrines associated with Calvinism, also referred to as reformed theology are doctrines born out of the Reformation, which began in 1517 by Martin Luther. ![]() ![]() This question of whether one can be both Baptist and a “Calvinist” is being asked by some in the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) churches because these so-called “Calvinist” doctrines seem to contradict many of the things that they have been taught in SBC churches.
